Story of Red Elephant Thai Restaurant

We did not stop with a takeaway shop though. Many people would like to have our Thai cooking in the restaurant. Therefore, we opened a small restaurant and takeaway on Linwood Avenue, which is now under new ownership, because we have opened our doors at 5 Pilgrim Place in the central city.

At our new place, people and visitors of Christchurch can experience fine dining reminiscent of Northern Thailand or enjoy their delicious food to go from our kitchen. The owners and staff of Red Elephant both restaurant and takeaways, are very happy to bring you a mixture of Thai cuisine and culture from Sukhothai, Thailand. Don’t forget to come to 5 Pilgrim Place and sit in our traditional Thai dining area with a number of authentic Thai dishes selected from by chefs.

The Red Elephant name has been established in Christchurch for five years. Firstly, we were a Thai food caravan. If you happened to go to Sunday Market at Riccarton Racecourse five years ago, you may have been our guests over there.

After the caravan, we started our first takeaway store on Huxley Street in Sydenham. If you drive or walk along on Columbo Street, you could see our first takeaway shop, which is still in business.
